Work Bitch was a project about, well, work (and being a bitch). I had made a series of digital collages about the aesthetics of the service industry and global feminised labour drawing on traditional imagery of the blue collar worker - particularly Soviet textiles. I rented out a print and it ended up in a slick office in Central London. Seeing the print in this jarring location inspired a performance in which I recreated an office space and sang an original song as an irate, heartbroken wannabe girlboss. The song and performance explored the ways in which women can be complicit with patriarchal systems, on an interpersonal level as well as in matters of economics.
